ABSTRACT:

When stratigraphy defines the framework in which petrophysics, geomechanics and reservoir engineering operate, then stratigraphy thrives. In fact, stratigraphy is the key discipline that allows multiple scales of observations and embrace the outcome of all other geological disciplines. Here we present an integrated stratigraphic framework shedding light on the deep-water units of the Wolfcamp Fm in the Delaware basin. The framework is built with petrographic, lithological, paleoecological, geochemical, geochronological, petrophysical, geomechanical and geophysical data. To make the stratigraphic framework relevant we focus on its implications and operational consequences, as well as on its prediction of rock types and reservoir quality within specific sequences. The analyses generated maps from seismic and wells at basin scale, describing cores, integrating core analyses, calibrating well log signatures to cores, and assigning geological meaning to log signatures.

BIOGRAPHY:

Pioneered subsurface interpretation in unconventional resources by integrating scales (from micron to kilometers), methods (experiments, modeling, modern analogs, outcrops, seismic), and disciplines (sedimentology, stratigraphy, geochemistry, paleoecology). Helped to discover and develop the first economical unconventional play outside North America (Vaca Muerta Fm., Argentina). Popularized the Geological Sciences in websites, podcasts, and video interviews in international forums. Authored 69 peer-reviewed papers. Geologist at ExxonMobil, Shell, Eni. Chief Editor of the scientific journal AAPG BULLETIN.

After Payment/Registration, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the seminar.
