ABSTRACT:

Through the various stages of the life of an oil/gas well it is necessary to acquire borehole, formation, and fluid data, and/or physical rock and fluid samples suitable for lab analysis. The presentation will make use of a realistic long/complex logging string popular in wireline logging operations in the TD stage of ultra-deepwater Gulf of Mexico wells. This presentation will cover: • The critical aspects to consider when translating the geoscience team requirements into a wireline logging program designed to acquire all the required data sets and samples with the best possible quality (data assurance). • Common wireline deployment hazards, such as failing to reach TD, the tool-string or the cable becoming differentially stuck, and losing well control. The applicable countermeasures, risk-reduction technologies and methods to prevent these hazards and the contingency plans applicable. Who Should Attend? This presentation will be highly useful to all practicing petrophysicists, geologists, reservoir engineers, log analysts, and other industry professionals involved in acquisition of logs data, rock and fluid samples using wireline.

BIOGRAPHY:

Homero is the founder and president of the Wireline Advisory Board, an independent training and advisory company based in Houston, dedicated to the development of wireline technologies and services consumers and professionals.

Homero is a “wireline services” expert with four decades of experience in the global wireline industry while working for Baker Hughes. The first twenty years, he worked within the operations, technical and sales teams in Venezuela, Argentina, the UAE, Italy and Norway.
